PHYSARUM SQUAMOSUM EN LEPIDODERMA TIGRINUM, TWEE NIEUWE SOORTEN MYXOMYCETES (EUMYCETOZOA) VOOR BELGÏE
Myriam de Haan

Summary
Through the publication in 2004 of the new species Physarum squamosum Flatau & Schirmer (Physaraceae, Myxomycetes, Eumycetozoa) two Belgian collections could finally be identified. The first collection dated from November 1994 and was made in Zoerselbos (Zoersel, Province of Antwerp) on dead bramble stem (Rubus sp.). The second one was made in November 1999 in Palingbeek (Zillebeke, Province of West Flanders) from stacked logs of broadleaf trees (Sterbeeckia 20, 2001).

A search for Myxomycetes in March 2005 during snowmelt on the highest point (alt. 625 m) of Belgium, Baraque Fraiture (Natuurparkcentrum Botrange, Robertville, Prov. Luik), resulted in the first record of Lepidoderma tigrinum (Schrad.) Rostaf. (Didymiaceae, Myxomycetes) in Belgium. A large population covered an area of a few square meters of the pine forest floor. Fruiting bodies were found primarily on living mosses, but also on dead stubs, pine needles and soil.

This article comprises descriptions, colour drawings and photographs of the fruiting bodies and colour drawings of the microscopic features of Belgian collections of these species.

Inleiding

Summary
In this first contribution on the genus Alnicola in Flanders (northern Belgium), four species i.e. Alnicola amarescens, A. sphagneti, A. umbrina and A. tantilla, are treated. Each species is described and discussed; digital photographs, microscopical drawings and SEM-pictures are given.

Bernard Declercq

Summary
Daldinia petriniae Y.M. Ju, J.D. Rogers & F. San Martín new for Belgium. Daldinia petriniae, a rare species recently collected in Flanders (Belgium), is described and illustrated. A key of the Belgian Daldinia species is presented.

Inleiding
De Kogelhoutskoolzwam - Daldinia concentrica (Bolton) Ces. & De Not.

Hubert De Meulder

Summary
The composition of the fungal community was studied on small logs belonging to eight different deciduous wood species. The investigation was conducted in the nature reserve "Fort 7" at Wilrijk (prov. Antwerp) and started shortly after the trees were cut down. From 1990 to 2007 (see De Meulder 1993-2003 for previous reports) a total of 199 species were recorded, i.e. 169 fungi and 30 myxomycetes.

The appearance of Mycena spp. on the different types of wood becomes very marked towards the final stages of the decomposition. Of all taxa, Mollisia cinerea and Xylaria hypoxylon were seen most frequently (years) and throughout the entire succession, occurring on almost all types of wood. Logs from Birch and Elder are totally decomposed after 18 years. Eighty taxa seem specific as they were observed on only one type of wood. A quarter of these, i.e. approximately ten percent (20 taxa) of the total amount of taxa observed, occurred exclusively on Birch. An evaluation of 18 years of research is given.
